M'eimatai, A Mishnaic Art Print by Lis

$24.00

This beautiful print from dear Shel Maalanik Lis Cardy was inspired by the a Shel Maala class about the first Mishna of Berakhot (blessings). In that Mishna, we lean « m’eimatai » (from when) « do you say the Sh’ma at night. This piece maps out the options of the beginning and ending times of the nightly sh’ma period, starting from « three stars « , until either a third of the way through the night, midnight or dawn. The text of these phrases and opinions aligns with their meaning (i.e. the text for « until midnight » ends at the halfway point of the moon), and the beauty of the Northern Lights, the stars, the rays of the sun, all contribute to the ethereal perfection of this piece. This our first time selling an art piece from a student inspired by our classes, but we hope it won’t be the last. Since Lis generously donated this work, all proceeds go to the Yeshiva. May the words of Hashem never leave your homes or your lips
